Dated notices from CIFPO: outline versions, testing windows, fee changes, payer rule changes that affect an examination item, and governance decisions.
CIFPO publishes a bulletin whenever something a candidate or holder relies on changes, and at least once a month in any case. Nothing that affects the standard takes effect without a bulletin first.
Content outline v1.0 published
The CFPO content outline is published in full: six domains with weights, integer item counts (19, 15, 11, 11, 11, 8), task statements for every domain, and the reference list the examination draws on. It is effective for every administration from the first 2027 testing window and will be reviewed each September.
2027 testing windows set; applications open November 2
Four windows are scheduled for 2027, beginning January 11 – February 26. Applications open November 2, 2026 and close December 11 for the first window. The pass mark for outline v1.0 is 60 of 75 scored items; a modified-Angoff standard-setting study follows the first 100 administrations.
Call for item writers and subject-matter reviewers
Practitioners with at least three years of federal payer authorization experience are invited to write and review examination items for cohort 1. Applications close November 15, 2026. Writers and reviewers are compensated, are named on the About page with their consent, and may not sit the examination during service.
Naming: CFPO is the credential, CIFPO the issuing organization
From this date the credential and the examination are named CFPO — Certified in Federal Payer Operations — and CIFPO is the name of the organization that issues it. Earlier material that referred to the credential as "CIFPO" or to a "Board for Government Programs Standards" is withdrawn. The standing disclosure describing CIFPO's relationship to DutyPath LLC has been updated to match.
